Sponsored Content Policy

Aiko Trading Store publishes sponsored articles and partner content as part of how this site sustains itself. This page explains exactly how we handle it — what counts as sponsored, how we review it, how we label it, and what it never buys.

If you’ve ever wondered whether a post you’re reading was paid for, this page gives you a straight answer. Transparency is non-negotiable for us.

What Counts as Sponsored Content

Any article, link, or placement published as part of a commercial agreement is sponsored content. That includes — but is not limited to — the following:

  • Sponsored posts: Full articles written by or on behalf of a brand and published on our site.
  • Contributed guest posts with commercial intent: Guest articles where the author’s primary goal is to promote a product, service, or website.
  • Link insertions: Paid placements of hyperlinks within existing or new content.
  • Sitewide or banner placements: Display ads or logo placements bought through a commercial arrangement rather than served by a third-party ad network.
  • Product reviews provided for free: Any review of a product or service where we received the item, access, or compensation at no cost in exchange for coverage.
  • Affiliate content: Articles that contain affiliate links where we earn a commission if a reader makes a purchase. These are disclosed at the top of the relevant post.
  • Newsletter sponsorships: Paid mentions or dedicated sections in our email newsletters.

If money, free products, services, or any other compensation changed hands in connection with a piece of content, it falls under this policy — full stop.

Why We Accept Sponsored Content

Running a content website costs money. Hosting, research tools, writers, editors, and the infrastructure to serve readers reliably all require ongoing investment. Sponsored content is one of the ways Aiko Trading Store funds that work without putting everything behind a paywall.

We believe readers deserve to know this. Accepting sponsored content is normal and legal, provided it is clearly disclosed and held to the same quality bar as everything else we publish. We do not apologize for it — we explain it.

What we don’t do is let commercial relationships shape what our independent editorial team writes, recommends, or reports. The firewall between our revenue and our editorial voice is real and it is enforced.

Our Review and Approval Process

Not every sponsorship request gets a yes. Before we publish anything under a commercial arrangement, it goes through a structured review. Here’s how that works:

Step 1 — Initial Fit Assessment

We look at whether the topic is relevant to our readers. A sponsored post about personal finance tools fits our audience. A post about an unrelated niche product that has nothing to do with what our readers come here for does not. Topic relevance is the first filter.

Step 2 — Brand and Claim Verification

We check that the brand or business making the request is legitimate. We also review any factual claims in the submitted content. If a claim cannot be verified or is misleading, we ask the sponsor to correct it before publication. We do not publish content that makes false promises, uses fabricated statistics, or misrepresents a product’s capabilities.

Step 3 — Legal and Ethical Screening

We decline any request that involves:

  • Illegal products or services in our primary jurisdictions
  • Content that targets vulnerable groups in a harmful way
  • Health or financial claims that are unsubstantiated or potentially dangerous
  • Content designed to deceive readers about its commercial nature
  • Gambling, adult content, or other categories we’ve chosen not to work with

Step 4 — Editorial Review

Once a piece passes the ethical screening, our editorial team reads it for clarity, accuracy, and quality. We may request rewrites, add caveats, or insert our own context where needed. The final published version must meet our content standards — the same ones we apply to articles we write ourselves. You can read more about those standards in our Editorial Policy.

Step 5 — Disclosure Tagging

Before the piece goes live, it is tagged with the appropriate disclosure label. No sponsored content is published without a visible disclosure.

Editorial Standards We Apply to Every Piece

Sponsored content does not get a lower quality bar. It gets the same bar as everything else. Specifically, every sponsored piece we publish must be:

  • Accurate: All factual claims must be verifiable. We will not publish statistics, rankings, or product claims that cannot be substantiated.
  • Relevant: The content must be genuinely useful or interesting to the Aiko Trading Store audience. It must not feel out of place.
  • Free of misleading framing: Headlines must not be clickbait. Content must not imply an independent endorsement when none exists.
  • Compliant with our corrections process: If errors are found after publication, they are corrected and logged. See our Fact-Checking & Corrections Policy for how we handle post-publication changes.
  • Not harmful: Content must not cause harm to readers, third parties, or society. We apply particular caution to health, financial, and legal topics.

Sponsors do not get to override these standards. If a request conflicts with any of the above, we decline or request significant changes before moving forward.

How We Disclose Paid Content

Disclosure is the most important part of any sponsored content policy. Readers have a right to know when content is paid for — and that knowledge should be immediate and obvious, not buried in a footer or hidden in fine print.

Here’s how we disclose different types of sponsored content on Aiko Trading Store:

  • Sponsored posts: Labeled at the top of the article with a clear “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” notice before the reader reaches the body text.
  • Affiliate content: Articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement near the top of the page, explaining that we may earn a commission if readers purchase through a link.
  • Product reviews (gifted or compensated): Disclosed in the opening section of the review. We state clearly whether we received the product for free and whether any payment was involved.
  • Link insertions in existing content: Where a paid link has been inserted into an otherwise editorial article, the link is marked with the appropriate rel attributes (rel=”sponsored”) in line with search engine guidelines.
  • Newsletter sponsorships: Sponsor sections in our emails are labeled clearly as sponsored before the sponsored copy begins.

We do not use language designed to obscure the commercial nature of content. Terms like “partner,” “collaboration,” or “brought to you by” are used only in addition to — not instead of — the word “sponsored.”

Editorial Separation — What Sponsorship Never Buys

This is the part that matters most to us. Accepting a sponsorship is a commercial transaction. It is not an editorial transaction. Let’s be specific about what a sponsor cannot purchase:

  • Positive editorial coverage: Paying us for a sponsored post does not earn the brand a favorable mention in our independent articles. Our editorial team covers stories on merit.
  • Influence over news or opinion content: Sponsors have no input into our independent articles, reviews, opinion pieces, or editorial decisions.
  • Removal of critical coverage: If our editorial team has published — or decides to publish — content that is critical of a brand or industry, a commercial relationship with that brand will not result in the content being removed or softened.
  • Access to unpublished editorial plans: Sponsors are not informed of upcoming editorial topics, story angles, or planned coverage.
  • Review of independent editorial content before publication: Sponsors do not have approval rights over editorial articles. Only sponsored pieces submitted by the sponsor are reviewed by them before publication.

Our editorial team and our commercial team operate independently. Revenue considerations never enter editorial conversations. This separation is what allows readers to trust that what they read here reflects genuine judgment — not whoever is paying us this month.

Types of Sponsored Placements We Offer

Aiko Trading Store works with brands across several formats. Each format is governed by this policy and all carry the disclosure requirements described above.

  • Sponsored articles: Long-form content published on our site under the sponsor’s byline or a clearly labeled “Sponsored” tag. These can be written by the brand or by our team on the brand’s behalf.
  • Link placements: Paid hyperlinks within new or existing content. All paid links use the rel=”sponsored” attribute.
  • Banner and display advertising: Served directly or through our advertising partners. Banner ads are visually distinct from editorial content.
  • Newsletter features: Sponsor mentions or dedicated sections in our email communications to subscribers.
  • Social promotions: Paid content shared through our social media accounts, clearly labeled as sponsored.

For full pricing, formats, and audience data, visit our Advertise with Us page or email us directly.

Advertiser Responsibilities

When a brand works with us, they take on responsibilities too. By submitting sponsored content or entering a placement agreement, advertisers confirm that:

  • All claims made in the submitted content are accurate and can be substantiated.
  • The product, service, or business being promoted is legal in our primary readership jurisdictions.
  • They hold all necessary rights to any images, logos, or other media submitted alongside the content.
  • The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
  • They will not attempt to disguise the commercial nature of the content or pressure us to remove disclosures.

If an advertiser provides content that contains errors, false claims, or harmful information that comes to light after publication, we reserve the right to add corrections, add caveats, or remove the content entirely. Refunds are handled case by case depending on the circumstances.

Your Rights as a Reader

You — the reader — are who this policy is ultimately written for. Here’s what you’re entitled to when you visit Aiko Trading Store:

  • To know immediately when content is sponsored. You should never have to reach the end of an article to find out it was paid for.
  • To trust that our editorial content is independent. No sponsor can buy a favorable opinion in our editorial articles.
  • To report content you believe is improperly disclosed. If you find a piece on our site that you suspect is paid content without proper disclosure, email us. We will investigate.
  • To have errors corrected. If sponsored content contains factual errors, you can flag them and we will follow our standard corrections process.

Reader trust is the foundation this site is built on. Without it, nothing else we do here has value. We take every concern seriously.

Regulatory and Platform Compliance

Our sponsored content practices are designed to comply with applicable advertising standards and guidelines, including:

  • FTC Guidelines (US): The Federal Trade Commission requires that material connections between a publisher and an advertiser are clearly disclosed. Our labeling practices are designed to meet this requirement.
  • ASA Guidelines (UK): For readers and partners in the UK, our disclosures align with the Advertising Standards Authority’s requirements for online sponsored content.
  • Google’s Link Schemes Policy: Paid links on our site use the rel=”sponsored” attribute as required by Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. We do not engage in undisclosed link exchanges designed to manipulate search rankings.
  • Platform-specific policies: Any content distributed through third-party platforms (social media, email providers) complies with those platforms’ advertising and disclosure rules.

We review this policy periodically as guidelines evolve. If you believe our current practices fall short of a specific regulatory standard, please contact us.

Policy Updates

This Sponsored Content Policy is a living document. As our advertising formats evolve, as regulations change, or as reader feedback highlights gaps, we update it. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.

We don’t notify readers individually of changes to this policy. If you rely on it for business or compliance purposes, we recommend bookmarking this page and checking it periodically.

Major changes — such as a shift in the types of sponsors we accept, a change to our disclosure format, or a revision of our editorial separation principles — will be noted briefly at the top of this page with a change summary.
